Tips for Hire
When kayaking/paddle boarding there are chances you may accidently fall off. You will need to know how to swim or have an aid such as a lifejacket to ensure your safety on the water. Lifejackets are provided on request at our kayak hut for your safety.
Kayaks/Paddleboards are used on water and there is no guarantee that you will not get wet. Do not take any mobile phones, keys with immobilisers or anything else that can get damaged by water unless you have some way of waterproofing it.
When on the water it is important to be sun smart. It is easy to get sunburnt .Always protect yourself from the sun have adequate sun protection SLIP SLOP SLAP. When available try to use reef safe or organic sunscreen at all times to protect Ningaloo’s amazing Coral reefs, but if you cannot make sure you apply your sunscreen at least 20 minutes prior to going into water to ensure it does not wash off and damage our vulnerable reef ecosystem.
Kayaking and paddle boarding are exercise. If you are not used to it, be aware of how far you have paddled and how far you have to paddle back.
Ningaloo Marine Park is an amazing place to explore. Please take care when exploring our fragile ecosystem by following these simple instructions.
No touching of any marine life or coral structures
Look and admire but leave not trace behind you
(please do not take any souvenirs).
Please do not stand on the coral or attempt to swim over shallow parts of the reef as you may damage the reef and yourself.
If you are lucky enough to see a turtle please do not try to touch it or dive underneath it always try to be 2 meters away in a semi-circle behind them to ensure the turtle feels safe and comfortable at all times.
